Daylight hours are extending throughout the spring. Light is a fascinating phenomenon and noting it will take one from lighthouses to laser surgery, candlelight to lightening and lightening bugs. Light is not just something we see but something by which we see. We notice the ashlight beam but we also see things caught in the ashlight beam. It strikes me to be a little like the alphabet. We see those letters but then we stop noticing them directly and see a literary world through them.
Light doesn’t just light something up, it encourages the soul and symbolizes life itself. This is the light that we say “cheers us” and this is when “the light goes out of our eyes.”
While we are glad for physical light, we all want spiritual light as well. Where does this illumination and encouragement come for you? I hope you have a place or person from which to receive it. It really deepens life. I follow Jesus Christ and he said that he would enlighten us. I have found this to be so for me and others have as well. In this springtime, I commend him to you. SS
