Congratulations Joe Steckler - named as a 2-1-1 Brevard “Superstar of the Space Coast”
Joe Steckler, President/Founder of Helping Seniors of Brevard was recently honored in the Parrish Medical Center 2017 Stars of the Space Coast awards as a “Superstar” for his service to Seniors in our Comm..
Joe Steckler is arguably the area’s most consistent advocate for the health & welfare of Seniors. As a retired Navy Captain, whose last command was the Navy’s Retirement Home in Gulfport MS,
Joe is well known for his efforts at establishing Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation & their Adult Day Care centers, which have been affec- tionally referred to as “Joe’s Clubs”. He is well known for his print columns, his radio programs (broadcasting continuously over WMEL Radio airwaves for 17 years); & television programs, which inspire seniors to age with dignity.
All this and, at 83 years of age, Joe refuses to slow down. A ma- jor stroke, in 2014, did not deter him. Even as he was just beginning recovery, he purposed that Helping Seniors would tape his recovery, which led to a series of TV programs tracking his progress, to give others hope that they can “bounce-back.” Just this year, Joe had cataract surgery, & asked the process be taped for TV to show how the process works & to encourage others with their sight issues.
Joe, for all his work, was recently honored at the 2017 W.E.A.A.D. Comm. Fair by car dealer AJ Hiers, who donated a 1951 Ford “Classic” Hot Rod, as a fundraiser to Helping Seniors, & by Congressman Bill Posey, via a Letter of Special Congressional Rec- ognition.

I was already familiar with Mr. Steckler &
his proven track record of success with his “Joe’s Clubs” which continues to be a huge resource for families dealing with Alzhei- mer’s. When I looked into “Helping Seniors of Brevard” there was no doubt that want- ed to be involved.
