COVID-19

Representative Tyler Sirois offered the following update related to the COVID-19 pandemic for Brevard County residents and businesses.

All Florida residents, Medicare recipients, and seniors, in particular, should be aware of fraud and attempted identity theft related to COVID-19. The scheme involves contact by individuals misrepresenting themselves as government employees asking for personal information and offering COVID-19 testing. Individuals who believe they have been targeted are urged to call the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) Hotline at 1-866-720-5721 or email disaster@leo.gov. Additionally, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has activated the Price Gouging Hotline to protect consumers during the present state of emergency. The hotline can be reached toll-free by calling 1-866-966-7226 or visiting myfloridalegal.com.

All residents are urged to continue to practice social distancing and guidance offered by the Florida Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The CDC’s recommendations can be found online at floridahealthcovid19.gov/. Individuals who believe they have COVID-19 or have been exposed should contact their health care provider or the Brevard County Health Department at 321-454-7111 or brevard.floridahealth.gov.
