Let’s Scam Jam the Scammers and Keep Our Seniors Safe!

According to the FBI, in 2023, individuals aged 60 and over reported over $3.4 billion in losses due to scams—an 11% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, the American Journal of Public Health reports that approximately 5.4% of cognitively intact, community-dwelling older adults in the U.S.—about 1 in every 18—experience financial fraud or scams each year.

Clearly, with the rise of AI and the increasing sophistication of scammers, the threat level is growing. It’s more important than ever to stay informed and proactive about the evolving scam landscape.

That’s why Helping Seniors is proud to partner with AARP—a trusted leader in senior advocacy since 1973. AARP has been on the front lines with its Crime and Safety Program, and today, it continues that mission with the Fraud Watch Network Helpline (877-908-3360). This free resource is staffed by trained fraud specialists who provide one-on-one support, guidance, and education on how to avoid scams.
