God, Paco, and You
Ernest Hemingway told a story of a Spanish father who was forlorn over his son’s impetuous run into his own kind of Parable-of-the-Prodigal-Son’s far country. The father took out a big ad in El Liberal, the local paper, that said, “Paco, Meet at Hotel Montana noon Tuesday. All is forgiven. Papa.” Paco is a very popular name in Spain. On Tuesday at the square in front of the hotel there were 800 young men named Paco waiting for their fathers.
800 of us (or more) would have shown up too. We all want to be forgiven. We all want a father who loves us. We all want to come home. God is all of this and more. This Father God is waiting and so hopeful and loving about you.
