Need a Prayer? Try This One
Easter came and Eastertide, that fifty day period between the empty tomb and the ascending Jesus, is here. What a good practice to go often, in these special days, to what probably is more recited by more people in more countries over more centuries than any other set of words, the Lord’s Prayer. His followers sensed Jesus’ connection with God and saw his prayer life as foundational in that connection. Do you want to be connected to God? Then join the disciples in asking Jesus to show you how to pray and delve into the answer he gave that has helped millions over two thousand years. One author, writing about the Lord’s Prayer, titles his book, Fifty-seven Words That Change The World. Note that the title is not Changed the World but Change, not past tense but present tense. Do you want your world to change? Then join into praying the Jesus-given prayer. Do you wonder what Jesus thought about and wanted? Then ponder his prayer. It’s a disclosure of his heart.
Be careful of just saying the prayer. Pray it. And may God bless us all.
