COVER STORY – She Is Living Her Dream
Vicky Lada is living her dream. Her dream was always to be an artist. She paints with acrylic media creating paintings while learning from teachers and fellow artists. Her favorite subjects are sunrises, sunsets, tropical landscapes, seascapes and nature in vivid colors. She paints the beauty of God’s creation usually with a variety of tools.
Born March 8, 1949, she spent a sweet childhood in northeast Ingleside, Illinois, on a historical 90-acre health resort/farm. Her artistic dreams were always encouraged by Mom and Dad, who liked to paint watercolor landscapes. She loved all the art classes in high school and college she could take. Instead, she obtained an AA in Retail Management from Orange Coast College in California in 1969, then a BS Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at California State University Chico in 1975. For 40 years with a career, being a wife and Mom were priorities. She loved taking art classes and visiting art galleries wherever she traveled: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She would always tell herself “My dream is to paint when I retire.”
Finally, in 2015, that day arrived. She joined the Sebastian River Art Club. She has been painting with a variety of teachers and enjoying it all! Currently the Club treasurer, one of the teachers and showing in almost all club art shows. Also, a member of the Christ Cultural Center show in First Friday Art Stroll, Vero Beach.
