The Hope of Easter
Easter, celebrated this year on April 5, marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ — a kind of folk rabbi who claimed to a savior like Messiah. He was put to death by the establishment of that day as a blasphemer and a danger to the status quo. However, after a death by certified executioners, his corpse came back to life vindicating his claims. This resurrection of Jesus is the cornerstone of the Christian faith and one of the most hopeful days on the calendar. Easter Sunday bursts forth with its message that Jesus triumphed over death, and that through him resurrection is possible for us.
Churches fill with lilies and music. Families gather around the table. And in the lengthening days and blooming world outside, nature itself seems to join the celebration of new life through Christ.
However you observe it, Easter invites a personal pause: to give thanks, to sit quietly in the spring light, or simply to let hope back in. Wishing you and yours a blessed and joyful Easter.
