When a Home is a Home
Someone told about a couple who had been married, as some of you have, more than sixty years, Sam and Esther. The pastor asked the husband, Sam, why they lived in MI all those years if that wasn’t his favorite place. He answered, “It’s Esther’s, and I realized that my real home is wherever Esther is.”
I could say that your real home is wherever God is and that is the absolute truth. But I think this parable is saying something more than that. It’s as someone said, “If you don’t have a home you are homeless but if a home doesn’t have you, it’s just a place.” Do you have place in God’s heart and, thus, you are not homeless? You sure do. Moreover, if God’s heart doesn’t have you, in a sense, it’s just a place. It’s not a heart, much less, a home. God has a heart and home for you.
