40 Ways To Stay Young

“The inspiration for 40 Ways To Stay Young  came from years of both good and bad experiences.  It helped me survive the worst of times.  Hope you enjoy it. 

  1. Love. Love someone. Get lost in love.
  2. If you’re over 50 – find time to spend with people younger than you. If you’re under 50, spend time with people in their 60’s and beyond. They will remind you how fast it all goes.
  3. Go on a hot air balloon ride.
  4. Explore. Explore. Explore.
  5. Always make your health a priority.
  6. Always make what you eat a priority.
  7. Never screw around with anything harmful or nefarious. You may never come back.
  8. Be kind, even when you don’t want to. It’s good for your health.
  9. Be respectful, even when you don’t feel like it. It is good for your health.
  10. Be fair. Even when it’s not fashionable.
  11. Stay on the sunny side of the street as much as possible. The other side is hell. I know. I have been there, you don’t want to go there.
  12. Mindset. Mindset. You read about it a lot because it’s true. Don’t wait to turn 80 to find out.
  13. Act with a sense of urgency when in the juice. Don’t be fooled if you are under 40 thinking you have forever.
  14. Be positive 24/7. I know it’s not realistic. But try. If you try you will get better at it.
  15. Cherish memories, but spend more time creating new ones.
  16. Never go backward. Beware of family and old friends who always like to relive the past.
  17. Never let climate interfere with your day. Unless, of course, it’s a hurricane or tornado.
  18. Keep trying new stuff. If it won’t kill you, try it.
  19. Learn. Learn. Learn. Always. The school of life has no graduation ceremony.
  20. Randomly help a stranger.
  21. Learn the new tech – at least enough to get by.
  22. Do stuff you have never done before and will likely never do again. Not easy, I know. It doesn’t have to be crazy. Make it as important as getting up in the morning – because it is.
  23. Read. Read. Read. Whatever you like. Just read. Pump your mind with new ideas. Stimulate your brain.
  24. Go to the beach. Any beach. Just go.
  25. Go to the mountains, any mountains, just go.
  26. Don’t waste a millisecond with toxic people, even family. Not a second.
  27. Spend time at a summer cottage. A day. A weekend. Do it once, twice, or for the summer.
  28. Spend time in a winter chalet. Go with friends, family, someone you love.
  29. Dress up, don’t wait for Halloween.
  30. Dance. Dance. Dance. Dance with anyone. Dance alone. Dance anywhere. Just dance.
  31. Love the Beatles. Sing with them.
  32. Smile at the ordinary. Make the effort.
  33. Don’t waste too much time on anger. It will age you a hundred years in seconds.
  34. Exercise. Never stop. At 25. At 80. Don’t wait until it is too late.
  35. Make someone happy.
  36. Come home to someone you can’t wait to come home to.
  37. Go to the library. As often as you can.
  38. Go to a bookstore. As often as you can.
  39. Stay hungry, as Steve Jobs reminded us. Not for food.
  40. Most importantly, above all else, be amazed. Completely. Totally. Be amazed.
