Twelve Everyday Health Rules by Arvind Dhople
Professor H. W. Cone (1989-1917), a bacteriologist, had been teaching at Wesleyan University in Connecticut for many years. In his “Introductory Physiology and Hygiene” course, he had posted permanently these “Twelve Everyday Health Rules” on its wall. I am sure this is true even today.
- Rise early and go to bed early.
- Eat good, nourishing food.
- Drink plenty of clean, fresh water.
- Leave tobacco and alcohol drinks alone.
- “Work while you work,” and work cheerfully.
- “Play while you play,” and play heartily.
- Take plenty of out-of-door exercise, especially in winter. Live out of doors as much as possible.
- Keep the lungs active by taking long breaths.
- Exercise the skin with cold baths and rubbing.
- Do not wear tight clothing of any kind.
- Be sure the rooms you live and sleep ion are well-ventilated.
- Train yourselves to be the skillful engineer of your body engine. Be very ambitious to possess a strong, healthy and graceful body.
I am sure you can post these “Rules” on your refrigerator too.
